摘要
大众传媒在当今社会扮演着不可或缺的角色,对大众传媒的分析和研究一直是各个时期学者和专家关注的焦点。从西方修辞学视角分析《纽约时报》享有的地位和机构威信颇具新意和现实意义。该课题以西方修辞理论中的三大说服手段之一——修辞人格为依托,试图追溯时报公信力和权威性的修辞根源。
There is no doubt that mass media nowadays play an indispensable role in people’s daily life, therefore, quite a few studies and analyses have been carried out in this sense. The study of the New York Times ’(NYT’s) status and the analysis of its construction of the institutional ethos from the perspective of western rhetoric are not only innovative to some extent but also of practical significance. For this purpose, based on the rhetorical theory of ethos, this paper attempts to figure out the rhetorical ori-gin of the NYT’s credibility and authority.
