摘要
The paper studies the use of information-packaging structures in newspaper from a pragmatic point of view. It is based on the 800 corpus examples randomly chosen from the news and sports sections of Guardian. The paper studies the structures preposing, postposing, inversion, extraposition, and dislocation, as well as existential, cleft and passive constructions. It shows that that the news and sports sections of The Guardian are not extensively marked by the use of information-packaging structures.
