The Chinese version of Life with Father, translated by LV Shu-xiang in his earlier life, excellently rendered the original text into vivid Chinese without hurting its original style. How does the language scholar reproduce the original style with genuine Chinese? Through case study, five techniques of translating English into genuine Chinese are summarized: make good use of verbs, disyllable, repetition, short verses as well as a good command of genuine Chinese words.
