顺应论视角下的模糊限制语研究——以奥巴马周演讲为例

Analysis of Hedges from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory——A Case Study of Obama's Weekly Addresses

作为一种重要的言语交际策略,模糊语言广泛的存在于人们的生活中。模糊限制语是模糊语言中的常见现象,更是政治演讲中必不可少的一种言语手段。以语言学家Jef Verschueren的顺应论中的语境顺应角度为视角,对奥巴马每周演讲中的模糊限制语进行分析,发现模糊限制语的使用是为顺应语境而作出的选择,以达到保护面子,显示身份和权威以及表达愿望等语用功能。

As an important communication strategy, vague language is widely existed in people’s daily life. Hedges are the com-mon phenomenon in vague language. What’s more, they are indispensable in political speeches. On the basis of contextual adap-tation in adaptation theory put forward by Jef Verschueren, hedges in Obama’s weekly addresses are analyzed. It is found that the use of hedges is the choice of adaptation to the context in order to realize pragmatic functions, such as protecting face, showing identity and authority as well as expressing desire.
