《献给艾米莉的玫瑰》是真实反映父权社会下女性形象的一部短篇小说,威廉·福克纳通过该小说向读者展示了昔日美国父权社会吃人的现象。通过对小说文本的解读与分析以及对当时父权社会的剖析,艾米莉的形象不再仅呈现出僵化的没落南方贵族形象,而是被赋予了鲜活的反抗精神。虽然最终不可避免地成为了父权社会的牺牲品,但是艾米莉最后挣扎中所体现的悲剧美是感人至深的。
A Rose for Emily is such a kind of short story which reflects truely the female image under the patriarchal society.Through this story,William Faulkner shows the phenomenon of cannibalism of the past American South. Emily's image will not only be recognized as a rigescent,decayed southern aristocrat any more,but will be enriched a vivid spirit of resistance through analyzing the original text and social backgroud. Although the story seems to end with Emily's failure as a victim of the American at that time,Emily's beautiful tragedy of death in the final struggle touched readers deeply.
