Sport is a mark of social progress and civilization, and at the same time, football is seen as the prime sport in the world that makes billions of people addicted to it. People receive football information through reading news. As with other news, foot-ball news applies a lot of rhetorical devices in order to attract readers. Through analyzing the rhetorical features of English football news, this paper expects that it can help readers appreciate and understand English football news in a more comprehending way.
