A corpus-based analysis is conducted to probe into the overall language features and the syntactical functions of the structure. The findings are that the corpus-based study goes beyond its traditional patterns and functions,presents much more structural language features and functions,reveals that its syntactical functions are mainly reflected in that of that-clause,indicates that its semantic meaning varies in different contexts,and also reveals more and detailed language features and functions. Corpus-based study enlarges research vision.
