Public“Truth”Vs. Private Truth: An Analysis of“Soldier's Home”

为了更好地理解"迷惘一代",分析了美国作家欧内斯特·海明威的短篇小说《士兵之家》。该作品讲述了一战老兵克莱伯斯·哈罗德回乡的故事。在大战中受到战争创伤的主人公回乡后,发现自己已难以融入到战后的社会中去。主人公对第一次世界大战的幻灭及其回乡后生活目标的丧失反映了"迷惘的一代"所表现出的消极,迷惑以及不合公众常理的思想。

With the aim of getting a better understanding of the'Lost Generation', this thesis is composed to analyze Ernest Hemingway's short story Soldier's Home in which he uses simple, direct style to depict a WWI veteran who is traumatized by the grim reality of the war and finds it difficult to fit himself back into the community. In the protagonist Krebs'disillusion with WWI and his wandering, aimless life, the Lost Generation's pessimistic, confused and unreasonable thoughts are unveiled.
