A Brief Overview of Modern Chinese Translation

新中国的社会发展与其翻译事业相互影响又相互促进。新中国成立后,中国的翻译发展成就多多。该文尝试把新中国成立之后的翻译发展分为两个阶段——文化大革命之前和改革开放之后,对比研究了这两个阶段翻译发展的不同特点以及各自取得的成就,从而给21世纪的翻译事业一定的启发。

The social advancement of China and the development of modern Chinese translation undertakings are inseparably in?terconnected. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the translation undertakings have already made great achievements. This essay will divide the development of modern Chinese translation undertakings into two phases-before the Great Cultural Revolution in 1966 and after the reform and opening up in 1979, and make comparative study about the dif?ferent characteristics and achievements of these two phases, which aims to enlighten the translation undertakings in the 21st centu?ry.
