摘要
The paper introduces babbling and its general features, summarizing the studies on it in the past several decades.Though it is widely believed that babbling is a natural process of maturation and share some universal features, the more recent researches show babbling is influenced by the ambient linguistic environment and shows a close match with the characteristics of the first language. Therefore, babbling has a language-specific feature even in the early stage.
