The Application of the Appraisal Theory in Translation——A Case Study on the Chinese Translation of Life Without Limits

评价理论在翻译领域的应用研究数量相对较少,且多以商标、广告这类短篇文本的翻译分析以及不同译本的对比分析为主,鲜有对于正式出版物单个版本的译文的整体评析,然而对于后者的研究是非常必要的。该文以评价理论为工具,对于从《人生不设限》的中译本中挑选的几个例子进行分析,希望以此证明将评价理论应用于正式出版物单个版本的译文的评析是可行的,并且有助于提升译著的整体质量。

The application of the appraisal theory in translation studies is relatively less in number,most of which is about the analysis of the translation of short texts,such as brands and advertisement,and the comparison and analysis of different versions of translation.Studies on the overall evaluation and analysis of the single version of translation of publications from the perspective of the appraisal theory are barely seen,which would be highly necessary in order to improve the quality of the translation.In the paper,the author uses the appraisal theory to analyze the examples selected from the Chinese translation of Life Without Limits,hoping to prove that using the appraisal theory to evaluate and analyze the single version of translation of publications is practicable and could help to enhance the overall quality of the translation.
