从边缘角度试析《教训》中方言特点及功能

On the Function of Dialect Representation in The Lesson of Toni Cade Bambara

摘要 该文从边缘角度解析托尼·班巴拉短篇故事《教训》中所使用方言的类型,并从语音、词汇、语法三个层面分析了该方言的语言学特征,揭示其功能。运用该方言不仅给文章增添浓重的地方色彩,揭示社会价值意义,而且也反应作者的社会追求和艺术追求。 This article explores Bambara’s use of dialect in her short story The Lesson. Though some critics have mentioned the“colorful language”of Bambara’s characters, most debates that The Lesson has not centered on the dialect representation in the speech of her characters as well as its functions by using such dialect representation. This article analyzes the function of dialect representation in The Lesson of Toni Bambara from the perspectives of phonology, lexicon and syntax and concludes that the use of such dialect representation is not only successful in adding local color, mirroring social significance, but also consistent with Bam?bara’s social and artistic pursuits.
