摘要
该文以《红楼梦》为例研究译者主体性在翻译中的体现。《红楼梦》是中国四大古典名著之一,作者曹雪芹花费毕生精力,未完成便不幸逝世,后人对于《红楼梦》的续写不绝于世。而为了传播发展中国古典文化,对于《红楼梦》的翻译也不在少数,但是全译本的翻译只有两个版本,是为人所熟知的杨宪益夫妇版本和霍克斯版本。而对于这两个译本的研究对比资料也数不胜数,总结来说,总体认为杨宪益夫妇版本采用异化的翻译策略为主,大气、典雅、庄重;而霍克斯的版本采用归化的翻译策略为主,简单明了,朴实无华。这正是译者主体性带来的不同。
In this paper, the author takes A Dream of Red Mansions as an example to study translators' subjectivity. A Dream of Red Mansions is one of the four Chinese great classical novels, on which the author Cao Xueqin spent his whole life. Unfortunately, hedied with the unfinished work. Later, continuation works for A Dream of Red Mansions appear all over the world. For the develop-ment of Chinese classical culture, huge number of scholars have translated it into foreign languages, but only two versionsof the translations are well-known. One is translated by Yan Xianyi and the other is translated by Hawkes. What's more, compara-tive study of the two versions is numerous. In summary, Yan Xianyi's version adopts foreignization translation strategy, which is el-egant and solemn; while Hawkes' s version adopts domestication translation strategy, which is simple and plain. The difference iscaused by translators' subjectivity.
