M.Butterfly,written by David Henry Hwang,is one of the most influential plays in contemporary American dramatic his-tory.Hwang incorporates a stereotypical fantasy into his play,involving conflicts and misunderstandings between the East and theWest,between men and women.Through the analysis of the construction of the Orientalist"Madame Butterfly Fantasy"in M.Butterfly,this paper analyzes sexual prejudice and racial bias embedded in the"Fantasy".
