Social Investigation of Gender Differences——An Example of Using Euphemism

委婉语具有很明显的社会文化标记,具体体现为文化标记、性别标记、距离标记等。因此男女使用委婉语的情况也因性别差异有所不同。文章采用问卷的方式调查某高校大学生男女各自使用委婉语的情况,从Leech提出的礼貌原则分析其社会现象和成因。

Euphemism is an obvious sociocultural sign, embodied as a cultural, gender and distance marker. Because of gender dif?ferences, situations when men and women use euphemisms are different. The paper adopts a questionnaire to survey the college stu?dents who use the euphemism and analyzes the social phenomena and causes from Leech’s Politeness theory.
