Study on the Mechanism of Meme Transmission in C-E Translation of Cultural-loaded Words

模因作为文化重要组成部分且文化复制因子,在文化进化过程中不可或缺。文化负载词翻译的恰当与否直接关系到原作品意旨能否传递,也关系到其中文化信息的传递和文化交流的成功与否。文化负载词的英译是使凝结在汉语词汇中的文化模因在译入语中传播。该文根据模因作为复制因子具备其自身的发展规律和特点分析文化负载词英译过程中的模因传播机制,总结出文化交流的不同阶段文化负载词的翻译策略的选用。

Memes are the basic elements and the replicators of culture, which are indispensable in the process of culture evolution. Culture-loaded words’appropriate translation largely determines whether the main contents of source text can be transmitted and whether the culture information transmission and communication can be achieved. The C-E translation of culture-loaded words makes the cultural memes in them get diffused in target language. This paper studies the mechanism of meme transmission in the C-E translation of Culture-loaded words on the basis of memes, with their own special features and laws, achieving the conclusion that different translational strategies will be adopted at different stages of cultural exchange.
