摘要
自20世纪70年代以来,语言性别差异和语言性别歧视研究,一直是社会语言学的热点问题。该文主要分析了英语的词汇和句法上所折射出的性别歧视倾向,然后又剖析了造成语言性别歧视的深层的社会历史原因和宗教文化原因,最后得出结论:语言性别歧视与语言符号自身无关,它归根结底是一种社会现象,是男性和女性不平等社会地位的一种反映。
Ever since the 1970s, gender differences and linguistic sexism have been the hot issues of social linguistics. This paper mainly analyzes the linguistic sexism reflected in both English lexicon and syntax, and then expounds the underlying reasons for linguistic sexism from the social, historical and religious aspects. Finally, the conclusion is drawn that language itself does not have a gender bias and discrimination, instead linguistic sexism is the product of society and culture, and is the reflection of unequal so?cial status between men and women.
