《青玉案·元夕》英译中的翻译转换研究

A Study on Translation Shifts in the Translation of The Lantern Festival Night- to the Tune of Green Jade Table

由于不同的语言系统,加上社会、文化等方面的不同,英汉互译中可能出现无法一一对应的情况。那么在翻译实践中,译者不仅熟练掌握两种语言、文化等背景,更要懂得语言结构和层级之间的相互转换。该文以卡特福德的翻译转换理论为指导,逐句分析许渊冲英译的《青玉案·元夕》中翻译转换的实现情况。结果发现由于英汉语言结构和表达习惯的不同,古文英译时转换的情况非常多,这也说明了翻译转换理论在古文英译和翻译评价中具有适用性。

Due to different language systems and various difference in societies and cultures, they may be not always in one-to-one correspondence in the translation between English and Chinese. Thus in translation practice,translators should not only have a good master of the two languages, but also have a good awareness of the shifts among different language structures and categories.Under the Translation Shift Theory, the article attempts to explore the realization of translation shits in Xu Yuanchong's translation of a classic Chinese ci-poem. The result is that due to different language structures and expression habits, there are many shifts in the translating of Classical Chinese to English. This also proves that the Translation Shift Theory is valid in translation practice.
