On the Cultivation of Integrated English Talent in Xi'an

针对西安地区建设国际化大都市和"新丝路经济带"龙头城市的发展规划,指出了新建地方本科院校英语专业人才培养转型定位的必要性。改革面临的问题主要包括英语专业人才培养模式的传统理念、特色的缺失以及现有师资队伍知识结构的单一性。改革的突破点在于强化英语专业人才的"复合型"理念,彰显适应西安区域经济和文化的英语专业人才特色,以及提高英语专业教师的整体素质并强化其创新意识和能力。

The City of Xi'an has set the goal of constructing an international metropolis and the leading city of the'new silk road economic zone'. In regard to the developing trend, the newly emerging local colleges in the past decade are in need of optimizing the cultivation of English talent. To address the issue, the main points to tackle are the traditional notions, the vacancy of peculiar features and the incompleteness of teachers' knowledge. The possible breakthroughs in reform lie in three aspects: the emphasis on the integrated capability of English talent, the close connection between the regional economic growth, cultural development in Xi'an and the cultivation of English talents, and the enhancement of English teachers' awareness of innovation and creative ability.
