中西方思维方式和表达方式存在着较大的不同。中式思维有着求同性、情感性和形象性的特点,而西方人注重求异性、理智性和抽象性。因此,英译汉中长句的处理也成为一个难点。将英语长句翻译成汉语时,可以在理解中西方思维方式和表达方式的基础上,使用一些特殊的技巧,即原序、变序、拆句、并句,以此达到忠实、通顺的效果。

There are a lot of differences between Chinese and western ways of thinking and speaking. Chinese seek common grounds, think in images and are perceptive. Western people seek differences, think in an abstract way and are rational. So it is very difficult to translate long sentences from English to Chinese. On the base of understanding Chinese and western ways of think-ing and speaking, there are some special techniques, such as keeping the normal word order, changing words order, cutting sentenc-es, and merging sentences to read truly and smoothly.
