葛译《浮躁》四字成语翻译策略探析

A Survey of Four-Chinese-Characters Idioms in Turbulence by Howard Goldblatt

贾平凹《浮躁》中的四字成语生动地描绘了人物表情、动作,形象地刻画了人物心理变化,起到了画龙点睛的作用,但翻译界对《浮躁》成语的研究还有待深化。此次研究采用文本细读、逐页统计的方法量化《浮躁》四字成语,再按功能选取三类成语,以描述翻译学语境分析为理据,以实例分析葛浩文对《浮躁》四字成语的翻译技巧,旨在发现四字成语翻译的有效策略。

The four-Chinese-Characters idioms in the novel Turbulence written by Jia Pingwa give a vivid picture of facial expressions,behaviors,thoughts of the figures in the story,which play a key role in the development of the plots of the novel.Based on the different roles,the quantified idioms are broken into three categories to be analyzed in accordance with the notion of context in the theory of Descriptive Translation Studies(DTS).The translation skills taken by Howard Goldblatt were researched with a view to discovering some effective strategies to translate such idioms.
