英语是一门语言,更是一种工具,它最终的目的是用于交流。当前的大学英语阅读教学重语言知识,轻文化教学,忽视了对学生文化意识的培养,从而导致学生的跨文化能力比较薄弱。该文通过探讨在大学英语阅读教学中进行文化教学的必要性、内容和方法,揭示了英语文化教学在大学英语阅读教学中培养学生文化意识的重要意义。

English is a kind of language, it is also a kind of tool. The final destination of it is used to communicate. However, teach-ers pay much attention to the language knowledge instead of the cultural knowledge in current college English reading teaching.The cultivation of students' cultural awareness is totally ignored. Owing to this, students fail to communicate well. This paper indi-cates the significance of culture teaching which can cultivate students' cultural awareness in college English reading teaching viadiscussion of the necessity, content and method of culture teaching in college English reading teaching.
