This paper attempts to look at a poem by Robert Burns and its Chinese translations from a systemic functional perspec-tive. With the analysis of the poem and three versions, there are two underlying purposes of this study :(1) to understand the poemdeeply, and(2) to show the applicability of systemic functional linguistics in translation studies and discourse analysis.
