The Kitchen God’s Wife is the second best-selling works of Chinese-American female writer Amy Tan. With the first marriage experience of Tan’s mother in old China as the prototype, this novel shapes a group of female images during the Japa-nese War of aggression against China, who not only suffered from great oppression and destruction but also experienced huge hardship and ordeal. On the basis of trauma theory, this paper analyzed these female trauma images in the novel from three as-pects-domestic violence, patriarchal society and wartime atrocity, with the view to reveal Amy Tan’s perception and interpre-tation of the forgotten history as well as her observation and attention of female fate.
