A Comparison Between English and Chinese Translation-from Perspectives of Discourse Cohesion and Structure

语篇衔接和语篇结构是语言学的重要部分,衔接是语篇各组成部分的相互联系以及承上启下,而语篇结构是语言组织的整体框架。本文以语篇衔接和结构为理论依据,通过对比英汉翻译的原文和译文,探讨语篇衔接和结构在翻译中的运用,一来加深我们对语篇衔接和结构的认识;二是对我们今后在翻译中该如何运用语篇衔接和处理语篇结构有启发和指导意义。

Discourse cohesion and discourse structure are two important parts in linguistics study.Discourse cohesion refers to the interconnection of different parts in a discourse.Discourse structure is viewed as the general organization of a discourse.By comparing the original text with the translated ones,this paper mainly discusses the two theories' applications and effects in translation between Chinese and English. The paper has two aims:one is to deepen our understandings of these two theories,and the other is to give people a better instruction and illumination on translation.
