摘要
The Snows of Kilimanjaro was written in the 20 thcentury when the realism was still the main stream in the field of literature. However, Hemingway broke the cocoon of realism and flew into a new literary kingdom— modernism, where many new theories such as stream of consciousness and archetypal symbol blossomed and were used in literature. This paper mainly analyzed how stream of consciousness and symbolism were used in the Snows of Kilimanjaro to characterize Harry as a dying man on the cliff of Kilimanjaro.
