摘要
With the globalization of economy, English has become a universal language, which makes learning of English increasingly important in many non- English- speaking countries. In order to learn the language well, reading should be attached adequate importance. Reading ability, as a basic requirement in learning a foreign language, can be developed by doing comprehension exercises. The key to improve reading lies in reading speed. The faster you read, the more you are able to grasp the main point of a text. However, many people have obstacles in reading. This paper summarizes the main barriers in reading fast and puts forward some strategies for improving reading speed.
