摘要 Bernard Malamud(1914-1986) is an American author of novels and short stories, and one of the best known American Jewish authors of the 20 thcentury. A New Life is a semi-autobiographical campus novel. In this novel, Levin, a New York drunkard, comes to the East to start a new life with his ambition and dreams. But most things happen in the way he did not expect. This thesis will talk about the"newness"of Levin's life and some illuminations that the"newness"can give to modern people.
