摘要 George Willard, an innocent adolescent in Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson, is in search of answers in life. He is the only one who leaves the town and pursues dream in Winesburg. What makes George Willard different from other grotesque so that he can finally be led to his full growth and achieve awakening? Therefore, this paper utilizes the method of text analysis to conduct a research from the perspective of character study and to analyze George's six qualities to achieve awakening and redeem other grotesques' lives, such as quality of understanding others, quality of ability to communicate with others,quality of action without hesitation, quality of deliberateness, quality of ability to love,and quality of innocence.
