摘要
The Sound and the Fury, a masterpiece in American literature, is one of the most representative works of stream of consciousness by William Faulkner. Facing with the decline of both the Southern society and their family, the three brothers of the Compson family have different reactions upon it, which is largely attributed to their differences in personality structure. This short paper shall make an effort to analyze their own id, ego and superego on the foundation of Freud's theory of personality structure, aiming at to provide a new vision of the families' tragedy fate.
