By the control of matter on the nanometer-length scale, materials, devices, and systems exhibit novel physical, chemical, and biological properties and phenomena. The aim of nanotechnology is to exploit and employ these properties and phenomena. The concept, typical examples, fundamental scientific issues, investigative tools, applications and prospect of nanotechnology are introduced.
