摘要
《豪猪》是以20世纪90年代初保加利亚的社会现实为基础创作而成的小说,但它并非传统意义上的现实主义小说,蒙太奇手法的运用即是证明。小说以连续蒙太奇和平行蒙太奇的手法交代情节、展开故事,以心理蒙太奇和对比蒙太奇的手法挖掘人物的内心意识、刻画人物形象。多种蒙太奇手法的灵活运用,挑战了传统小说中单一的线性叙述模式,丰富了《豪猪》的叙事结构和文本策略,凸显了其中的戏剧冲突,体现了作者朱利安·巴恩斯在小说写作中不断进行的叙事创新,为其小说的叙事研究敞开了新的探讨空间。
Based on the early 1990s’ social reality of Bulgaria,nevertheless The Porcupine by Julian Barnes is by no means a realistic novel in a traditional sense,which can be corroborated by the application of montage methods. In the novel,Barnes employs'continuous montage'and'parallel montage'methods to unfold the plot and tell the story,and uses'psychological montage'and'contrast montage'methods to dig out the characters’ inner consciousness and depict their personality features. The flexible application of various montage methods challenges the unitary,linear narrative paradigm in traditional novels,enriches the novel’s narrative structures and text strategies,and foregrounds its dramatic conflicts,thus representing the narrative innovation in Julian Barnes’ s fictional writing and providing new space for the studies of his novels from the perspective of narratology.
