Characteristics of the River-bed Evolution of the Lower South Branch of the Changjing Estuary

Based on the historical charts and hydrological data, this paper discusses the development and migration of three sandbanks (i, e, the Biendan sha, the Central and the Liuhe sandbanks) on the river-bed of the lower south branch. This discussion is of great significance in regulating the navigation channel of the Changjiang Estuary and in the development of the shanghai Port.
