Practical Approach to Snow's Proposition

斯诺命题的出发点是科学文化与人文文化之间的分裂,其哲学根基在于现代与前现代、西方与非西方之间的一场认识论断裂。如果我们从划界的逻辑走向划界的活动,就会发现斯诺命题的三种分裂(时间、空间、认识论)都不存在。我们一直生活在一种杂合的非现代的世界之中,两种文化在实践中是交织在一起的,分裂仅仅是人为制造的一种假象。承认这一世界的杂合性,对我们更好地反思两种文化之间的关系具有重要意义。

Starting from the division between sciences and humanities,Snow’s proposition lays its philosophical foundation on the epistemological rupture between modernity and premodernity,western civilization and nonwestern cultures. However,if moving away from the logic approach to demarcation to boundary-work,we will find no ruptures concerning space,time and epistemology. We have been living in a non-modern,hybrid world in which one culture interweaves with the other. Giving a philosophical position to the hybridity of this world,and regarding the rupture between two cultures as an artificial fabrication will lead us in a more realistic direction to reinterpret the relationship between sciences and humanities.
