双关语即用一个词同时暗含两种或多种不同事物的一种修辞方式。着重介绍了英汉双关语的主要种类,各自的特点以及它们之间的异同。汉语与英语之间存在着差异是学术研究的重要对象之一。

To all of us, the PUN is not an unfamiliar term. It can be regarded as a rhetorical device in which the meaning of one language sign covers two different referents in the extralinguistic field. This article mainly deals with the major types of the English puns and Chinese puns, their each feature, their mutual similarities and differences. Due to the great differences existing between English and Chinese, we have to rack our brains to think over how to translate them into other languages. Thus, puns also serve as valuable resources for academic studies.
