"意象"、"意境"、"境界"这一组体悟性的范畴是中国美学的最重要的范畴。它们是一个范畴发展系列。其中"意象"、"意境"这两个范畴只适用于艺术美学,而"境界"范畴在20世纪已慢慢超越了艺术美学领域,进入人生美学领域,向文化美学靠拢。因而"境界"是这个范畴系列发展的最高层次。

'Image','yijing'and'state'are the most important concepts in Chinese aesthetics.It is a se- ties of intuitive coneepts.Two of them:'image'and'yijing'are only adapted to the field of artistic aesthet- ics.As for'state',it walked outside the artistic aesthetics' field,entered the life field and approached the culture aesthetics step by step in 20th century.So'state'nw is the highest stage in the development of the serial concepts.
