Taiwan's Hi-tech Industries and Trends of Industrial Cooperation Across the Strait

20世纪90年代,以电子信息技术产业为龙头的台湾高科技产业得到迅速发展。但是,进入21世纪初期,受全球网络泡沫经济破灭的影响,台湾高科技产业面临严重衰退。台湾有限的经济资源和空间,促使其将视野扩大到祖国大陆,通过融合并吸纳大陆的人力、物力、技术等资源,扩展台湾经济的发展空间,为产业升级与经济转型开辟新路。在海峡两岸相继加入世界贸易组织后,台湾高科技厂商纷纷到祖国大陆投资,开辟新的发展空间,促使第三波台商投资大陆热潮持续升温。

In the 90s of last century, Taiwan witnessed a rapid development of hitech industries with IT taking the lead. At the threshold of the 21st century, however, Taiwan hitech industries suffer a serious setback resulting from the evaporation of global network bubble economy. With limited economic resources and space, Taiwan has to direct its attention to the Chinese mainland for expanding its economic development space through merging and absorbing such resources as manpower, material, and technology, thereby creating new approaches to upgrading its industries and transforming its economic patterns. With Taiwan and the mainland both in WTO now, more and more Taiwan hitech entrepreneurs come to invest in the mainland and develop new space for business expansion, thus accelerating the third wave of investment in the mainland by Taiwan business people.
