The chieftains Mu of Naxi in Lijiang were loyal to the Enpires of Central China.They took it their own duties to safeguard the Northwest of Yunnan and to keep the stability.They constructed irrigation works,improved farming techniques,mined gold and silver,which greatly promoted the development of the local production and facilitated the progress of the society.Meanwhile,the chieftain adopted the policies of absorbing all religions,which contributes a lot to the local culture and greatly influences the formation of the multi-cultural pattern in the Naxi-inhabited area of Lijiang.
