摘要
明清时期的潮州地区由于地方经济条件特色和国家海禁政策而发展起海盗现象。潮州海盗亦盗亦商,应该被称为"海上盗商"。他们与地方社会利益有紧密的关联,与中央政府有持久的矛盾。他们的发展为清代潮州地区的海外移民奠定了基础。海外的潮州商人在发展中逐渐形成勇于冒险、注重家族关系和富于乡土情怀的文化特色。
During the Ming and Qing periods, pirates became very active in Chaozhou region. This was based on the particular economic condition of Chaozhou and stimulated by the governmental prohibition of overseas trading. The Chaozhou pirates were a mixture of pirates and merchants. They should be viewed as 'pirate-merchants'. With close connection towards local community, these 'pirate-merchants' kept contradicting with the central government. Their development provided a foundation for the Chaozhou overseas migration during the Qing period. In their course of development, the overseas Chaozhou merchants established their particular culture with the spirit of adventurism,family-orientation, and nostalgia as the characteristics.
