Fixed Communications Expecting New Growth Point

固定通信发展成就巨大,规模容量居世界前列 近年来,我国的固定电话用户持续增长,截至2002年8月,我国的固定电话用户已经达到了2.03亿户,固定电话的主线普及率为15.65线/百人,其中城市电话主线普及率为22.75%,规模容量居世界前列.

In recent years, our country has witnessed a sustained growth in the number of fixed telephone subscribers, which has reached 203 million by Aug. 2002. The penetration rate of fixed telephone main lines amounted to 15. 65 lines per hundred people, among which urban areas takes 22.75%. And fixed telephone network ranks among the most advanced in the world by both scale and capacity. With the growth in subscriber number, the penetration rate and the percentage for administrative villages access to telephone services have developed annually, resulting in the changes of the proportion among rural users, residential users and urban users. We could observe many features of fixed telephony development, such as the similar growth curves of residential and non-residential telephone services, obvious structural difference in served rural areas and arduous efforts to annually increase the number of served administrative villages. Currently, the fixed communications operators have lost their dominance in long-distance market with shares in local services gradually reduced, local voice service becomes the main source of revenue for them and the value-added service market is yet to develop. For a long-term development, effective growth points need to be fostered in telecom fields with continuous influxes of new technologies and new services.
