The author analyses the background of residence zone construction in the new cen tury at such aspects as its present situation,tranform of housing distribution system,change of dwelling pattern and evolution of residence zone construction,in tro duces patterns of residence zone in the new century,and suggests develop ers and con structors should take measures suited to local conditions to develop a va riety of residence zone patterns such as green,ecolgical,sus-tainable,intelli gent,fair environ mental,con venient living and the aged suitable resdence zones.
