The system architecture of ArcIMS is described in this paper,and emphasis has put on the analyzing functions of ArcXML in this architecture.Then the logical and physical layers of Sever and the basic functions of client are introduced.From users point of view,how to manage the ArcIMS server is also presented.Finally the securities of Website are analyzed and discussed briefly combining the characteristics of ArcIMS.
