In this paper,the machinability of prehardened plastic mould steels ASSAB718 and GC718 were compared and studied.A software package called Thermo Calc was used for analyzing the non metallic inclusions in the steels.The result show that because of the effect of inclusions in the steels the machinability of steel ASSAB718 is superior to that of steel GC718.Thermo Calc software can be realized to estimate the inclusion's type in steel.
