Photon counter is an effective apparatus for detecting weak signals. This paper introduces the design of a photon-counting system used for the study of ultraweak luminescence electrochemically generated in solution. The basic principle, electronic circuit, working parameters, performance and test results are described in detail, The system consists of a photomultiplier tube and other commercially accesssible electronic devices. It features low cost and high sensitivity and is suitable to the measurement of ultraweak luminescence in electrode processes.
