Pudan No 3 is a hybrid maize which was combined with two inbred lines bred in Puyang Agricultural Science Research Institute in 1995 The inbred line P97 was used as the female parent and 9212 as the male parent Pudan No 3 is a medium earliness hybrid It needs accumulative temperature 2300℃·d(≥10℃) to mature The hybrid showed high and stable yield at various experiment plots in various areas in 1995～2000 The result showed that it had high quality,a lot of adversity resistance The adaptive planting areas of Pudan No 3 were the Huanghuai area and the northeast part of China where planting corn in spring The plant population was 52 500～60 000 seedlings/ha,and it can be 67 500 seedlings/ha in the high yield tackling key problem field
