This paper reports the successful experience of establishing economic plantations and wind-break and sand-fixation'forests on the barrent Pintang island of Pintang County, Fujian Province, and gives'detailed statistic infore-mation about the economic benefits these plantations have brought in and the roles the shelter forests have played in protecting economies from sand storms and Typhoon.
