A discussion is had on the cause for rapid rise in pressure drop in the fixed bed reactor, the principle and advantages are presented of the solution of this problem by the axial radial technology, and the actual use of this technology is reported in the reactor with the iron chromium based shift catalyst and that with the cobalt molybdenum based sulfur tolerant shift catalyst.
