An Ultrastructural Study on in vitro Phagocytosis and Digestion of Helicobacter pylori by Human Leucocytes

健康人周围血中白细胞于体外和幽门螺杆菌(HP)共同孵育,以电镜定期观察白细胞吞噬消化HP的过程。15min时多数中性多形核白细胞(PMN)已吞噬并开始消化HP,120min时被吞噬的HP多数结构呈不同程度的破坏,证实PMN能迅速高效地杀灭HP。

Leucocytes from healthy adults were incubated with Helicobacter pylori (HP) in vitro, and the sequential changes of phagocytosis and digestion of HP by leucocytes were studied electron microscopically. After 15 minutes incubation, most polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PMN) had phagocy- tized HP and some HP had begun to be digested. Most HP in PMN appeared degenerated even destructed completely after 120 minutes incubation. Thus the powerful capacity and high efficiency of PMN in killing HP in vitro were proved. The role played by PMN in the defence of HP during chronic gastritis was discussed. It is suggested that the cyclic changes of active and inactive phases of chronic gastritis occurred as the amounts of HP and infiltrating PMN fluctuating.
