徘徊于新旧之间:论晚清职业小说家的小说理论——以李伯元和吴趼人为例

Hovering between the Past and Present: A Review of Professional Novelists' Theories in Late Qing Dynasty

晚清以来,随着报刊业的发达,稿酬制度的建立,"写作"开始成为一种谋生的手段,"作家"也成为一种新的职业。在这种情形下,有相当一部分文人以报刊为谋生的手段。以李伯元和吴趼人为代表的晚清职业小说家在中国近代文学的开拓方面作出了独特贡献。他们结合自己的创作经验提出了颇有见解的理论,表现出对小说艺术的理解和对中国传统掌握的熟悉程度相当深刻。从这些方面,我们可以考察晚清文学真正的历史地位。

Since late Qing Dynasty, with the development of the press and the establishment of the pay system for written articles or books, writing has become a means to make a living, and 'being a writer' has naturally become a new profession. Under such circumstances, quite a number of writers are living that way. Representing the professional novelists of late Qing Dynasty, Li Boyuan and Wu Jianren made special contributions to the development of modern Chinese literature. According to their own experience, they put forward many good views, which reflected their in\|depth understanding of novel art as well as Chinese tradition. Hence we can make a conclusion of the historical position of the literature in late Qing Dynasty.
