After the 1960s, neo-liberalism began to penetrate the field of international trade and formed a set of neo-liberal trade policy theories. Neo-liberal trade policy generated a great impact on the world economy and featured an expansionary trend in practice. It is worthy to note that the trend of neo-liberalism in trade policy is parallel to the developments of related theories. This article examines the practical and theoretical aspects of neo-liberal trade policy and investigates the methodological characteristics of the neo-liberal trade policy theory. This article suggests that it is important for China to know the neo-liberal trade policy theory because China is aiming at enhancing the openness of economy and integrating its economy with the world economy.
